3.3.2 An Application may not itself install or launch other executable code by any means, including without limitation through the use of a plug-in architecture, calling other frameworks, other APIs or otherwise. No interpreted code may be downloaded and used in an Application except for code that is interpreted and run by Apple’s Published APIs and builtin interpreter(s).

3.3.3 Without Apple’s prior written approval, an Application may not provide, unlock or enable additional features or functionality through distribution mechanisms other than the App Store.

3.3.2: 아이폰용 Flash나 Silverlight 같은 RIA 프레임워크를 만들어서 배포할 수 없고, Firefox나 Opera, Chrome 같은 브라우저를 만들어서 배포할 수 없다는 이야기다. 왜? Flash나 Silverlight를 통해 만들어 지는 결과물은 “executable code”가 되고, 브라우저에서 자바스크립트나 HTML을 자체 엔진으로 해석한다면 “interpreted code”가 되기 떄문이다.

3.3.3: 애플의 서면 동의가 없다면 “설령 그게 무슨 프로그램이건 간에” 배포와 유사한 기능을 포함해서는 안된다는 이야기다. 즉, 아이폰에서 유통되는 모든 컨텐츠는 아주 예외적인 경우를 제외하고 애플의 마켓플레이스 위에서만 유통되어야 한다는 것. 앱스토어에 자신이 개발한 프로그램을 올리기 위해서는 최소한 99달러는 지불해야 한다는 점을 생각해 보면 좀 열받는 이야기 아닌가 싶은데.

과연 이래도 이통사만 나쁜 놈들이고, 애플은 구원의 손길일까? 물론 아이폰이라는 플랫폼이 가져올 수 있는 변화와 가능성에 대해서 굉장한 기대를 하고 있지만, 컨텐츠를 통한 수익 모델의 속을 살짝만들여다 보면 핵심 애플리케이션(Safari, App Store, iTMS) 만큼은 결코 양보하지 않는다는 점에서 애플의 비즈니스 모델이나 현 이통사들의 비즈니스 모델이나 다를 것은 하나도 없다. 모델 자체에는 변화가 없는데 이통사를 빼버리고 독자 플랫폼 위에서 혼자 북치고 장구치고 다 하겠다는 얘기를 한국의 이동통신 회사가 선뜻 좋다고 손내밀 것이라고 생각하면 너무 순진한 것 아닐까?
